# Remove unnecessary form fields

**Evidence grade: Observed.** Top SaaS sites in the corpus use it. This counts adoption; it does not prove an effect.

Observed on 5 corpus sites. Page types: contact, demo, landing, other, signup.

## Why it works

Every question is a withdrawal from the user's bank of trust. Unnecessary fields increase perceived effort and cause users to question your intentions. The fewer fields users see upfront, the lower the perceived effort and the more likely they are to complete the form.
